[RETRACTED ARTICLE] EDUCATION REFORM AND THE SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT (SDGS)

Abstract

The United Nations has set Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for member states to achieve by 2030, focusing on social, economic, and environmental progress. This article highlights the importance of education in achieving the SDGs, a shared commitment of the global community. Effective and quality education is fundamental to developing human capital, which is at the heart of national development. Educational reform is therefore crucial to driving the successful achievement of the SDGs. Educational reform should cover six main areas:  1) Structure and management systems  2) Curriculum  3) Teacher training and development  4) Teaching and learning processes 5) Measurement and evaluation of learning outcomes  6) Lifelong learning systems  To ensure quality and effective educational reform, the government, private sector, and all stakeholders must work together to drive educational management according to policies and plans. All parties must perform their duties to the fullest, utilize technology, and leverage collaborative mechanisms from all sectors, along with efficient management. Quality education reflects the quality of the population, which directly impacts sustainable development in all dimensions. Educational reform is therefore the key to achieving sustainable development goals.
