Guidelines for Developing Counselor Teachers in the Digital Age based on Sangkhahvatthu 4 Principles under the Schools Sinpuntapi Network Surat Thani Primary Educational Service Office 3

Abstract

          This research aimed to (1) examine the current practices of homeroom teachers in the digital era, (2) develop guidelines for their practices based on the Four Bases of Social Solidarity (Sangahavatthu IV), and (3) propose and evaluate these guidelines within schools in the Sinpun–Tapee network under the Surat Thani Primary Educational Service Area Office 3. A qualitative research methodology was employed, utilizing in-depth interviews and focus group discussions, with data analyzed through inductive analysis.The findings revealed that (1) homeroom teachers’ practices in the digital era covered five key areas: academic affairs, discipline and administration, student adjustment, learner development, and welfare services, with collaboration from all stakeholders. However, significant limitations were identified, including fragmented data systems, inconsistent use of digital technology, and the absence of a centralized database, which affected the efficiency of student support. (2) The development of effective practices should integrate digital technologies with the Four Bases of Social Solidarity Dana (giving and sharing opportunities), Piyavaca (kind and constructive communication), Atthacariya (active support and beneficial conduct), and Samanattata (equity and impartiality) to enhance inclusive, fair, and effective student support. (3) The evaluation results indicated that the proposed guidelines were appropriate, contextually relevant, and feasible for practical implementation. They contribute to improving student support systems to be more systematic, modern, and efficient, while strengthening the role of homeroom teachers as academic leaders, counselors, and ethical users of digital technology.
