Provision of Elderly Allowance in Phon Sawang Sub-district Administrative Organization, Mueang District, Nong Khai Province

Abstract

            This research aimed to: 1) examine the provision of services for elderly individuals regarding the payment of old-age allowances; 2) compare these services based on personal factors; and 3) propose guidelines for improving such services. The sample group consisted of 287 elderly individuals (aged 60 years and above) who received old-age allowances. The sample size was calculated using Taro Yamane’s formula. The data collection instrument was a questionnaire with a reliability coefficient of 0.858. The statistics used for data analysis included frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation. Hypothesis testing was conducted using the t-test and F-test. The research findings revealed that: 1. Overall, the provision of services for elderly allowance payments in Phon Sawang Subdistrict Administrative Organization, Mueang District, Nong Khai Province, was at a high level (= 3.83). When considering each aspect, the highest mean score was found in the tangibility of services (= 4.05), followed by responsiveness to service recipients (= 3.83), while the lowest mean score was in assurance to service recipients (= 3.69). 2. The comparative results showed that elderly individuals with different genders, ages, occupations, and family sizes did not have significantly different opinions regarding the service provision for allowance payments. 3. The proposed guidelines for improving service provision include preparing facilities and equipment for the elderly, such as seating, walking canes, wheelchairs, and drinking water, in order to enhance convenience and safety while receiving services.
