Abstract

         The purposes of the research entitled “A study of achievement of the teaching methods of the meditative teachers in order to apply for the daily life of Will-power Institute in Mahathat Temple, Muang District, Nakonphanom Province” were: 1) to  study the  teaching principles related to the meditative training  in Theravada Buddhism; 2) to study the methods to teach the meditation of the Will-Power Institute; 3) to study the achievement of the teaching methods of the meditative teachers of the Will-Power Institute. This study was the qualitative research. The data collection was done from the study of the Buddhist scriptures, related documents and the in-depth interview by interviewing the key informants. the results of the research was reported by the descriptive analysis.


         For the achievement in the aspect of teaching, it was found that the meditative curriculums are taught in the teaching system, that is, to study in accordance with the guideline of Ajahn Viriyang Siridharo by using three books both written in theory and practice. Besides the theoretical learning, there is still the field practice by walking for Austere Practice at the Intanon Peak in Chiangmai until finishing the curriculum and spending the time for 6 months, studying only on Saturday and Sunday from 08.00-16.30. The achievement is satisfactory.


         The achievement of the teaching methods of the meditative instructors of the institute was that the teaching methods are the highest achievement. It makes changes of the behaviors in various aspects, that is, the aspect of mentality, physicality, family, economy and society. The ways of teaching of Ajarhn Viriyang are assigned into 12 items, that is, 1) to have comfortable sleep, 2) to get rid of sickness, 3) to make the brain clear and to create the wisdom, 4) to make the carefulness, 5) to eleminate the evil,6) to reduce the seriousness, 7) to have the special happiness, 8) to make the mind soft, 9) to return to do good, 10) in the time of dying, ones will face the goodness, 11) to practice the perfect development and 12) to be the wholesome. So many benefits of meditation can be received and they will give the benefits to the society absolutely.
