TRANSLATING ENGLISH INTO THAI: CHALLENGES AND STRATEGIES FOR RETAINING MEANING AND CONTEXT

The purpose of this article was to present the key challenges and effective strategies in translating English into Thai, with a focus on reserving the original meaning and context accurately. The analysis covered issues related to the problematic differences in grammatical structure, the complexity of polysemous words, idioms, wordplay, and cultural nuances. The article suggested various strategies, such as understanding cultural context, analyzing the source text, intelligently using translation tools, developing research skills, and applying appropriate translation theories. Furthermore, it emphasized the importance of meticulous review and revision to ensure the quality and accuracy of the translation. This article intended to be as a guide for translators and those who are interested in improving their translation potentiality to bridge linguistic and cultural gaps and promote effective communication in a cross - linguistic context.
