Development of Participatory Management Guidelines for Educational Management Networks to Develop Activities that Influence the Desired Learning Characteristics of Students

Abstract

            This research aimed to explore and develop a participatory management approach within educational networks to enhance students’ desirable attributes in lifelong learning. The study sought to investigate the causes of problems and potential solutions concerning students' motivation to learn, examine the current and desired conditions as well as the urgent needs related to participatory management within educational networks, and to design and refine a collaborative management model for organizing learning activities. Action research methodology was employed to guide the development process. The participants included Mathayom 1-6 students from Songphinongwitthaya School in the 2023 academic year. Various groups of respondents participated: 10 in version 1, 6 in version 2, 269 in version 3, and smaller numbers in versions 5 through 9. The research tools comprised questionnaires, teacher activity observation forms, student behavior observation tools, and satisfaction assessment forms. Data were analyzed using basic statistical methods: mean, percentage, and standard deviation.

            Findings revealed that the core issues stemmed from the lack of effective activity development strategies, insufficient stakeholder involvement, and the absence of activities that genuinely cultivated the learning-oriented traits in students. Current levels of participatory practices were moderate, yet stakeholders showed a high level of need for more inclusive educational management. Four management guideline documents were created. The implementation led to improvements in both process and outcome: teachers demonstrated strong performance in organizing activities that foster desirable learning characteristics, and 80% of students achieved an excellent level of the learning-minded attribute, exceeding the school’s set benchmark.
