Direction of Gastronomy Tourism in Phetchaburi

Abstract

The research study on "Direction of Gastronomy Tourism in Phetchaburi Province" originated from observations after Phetchaburi Province became a member city of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network in the field of gastronomy in 2021. This research article was conducted in a qualitative research format, collecting data from various research works, relevant documents, and conducting in-depth interviews with both governmental and non-governmental organizations, including the Special Area Development Management Organization for Sustainable Tourism (8th Area), Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), Phetchaburi Provincial Office, and the strategic planning group of Phetchaburi Provincial Office. The objective was to study the following: 1) To study the gastronomic tourism data in Phetchaburi Province. 2) To study the direction of gastronomic tourism in Phetchaburi Province. The research found that Phetchaburi Province has been collecting data and compiling significant information related to gastronomic tourism, including various branches of food sciences that contribute to uniqueness and identity of the area. Moreover, there has been collaboration from various organizations within the area, including both governmental and non-governmental sectors, as well as participation from local entrepreneurs, to drive policies and promote Phetchaburi Province as a distinguished gastronomic tourism destination. This collaboration has enhanced economic opportunities, leading to sustainable income generation within the local community.
