Creation of Thai Language for Communication Textbook for Chinese Students

Abstract
The objectives of this research were 1) to study and collect vocabulary used in Thai for communication teaching for Chinese students in the Faculty of Music, Bangkok Thonburi University, and 2) to create a textbook for Thai communication for Chinese students in the Faculty of Music, Bangkok Thonburi University, based on documents and related studies review, as well as Thai language textbooks for foreigners. Essential knowledge of living abroad for foreigners and knowledge of Thai and Western music were also used in this study. Moreover, the data were obtained from interviews with four experts: a Thai language expert, a Chinese language expert, a Thai music expert, and a Western music expert.
The results revealed that 1) this textbook has compiled 385 vocabularies for Thai communication for Chinese students. Afterward, it was divided into categories according to the content of the lesson. Each lesson consists of consisting of vocabulary, conversation, grammar, sentence structure, and activities in each chapter. A total of 8 chapters in this textbook were 1) Self-Introduction, 2) Traveling, 3) My University, 4) Date and Time, 5) Shopping, 6) Thai Food, 7) Thai Music, and 8) Western Music. 2) After the textbook completion, it was sent to the experts for its quality evaluation, and the assessment was at a very good level (x̅ = 4.91, S.D. = 0.12). It showed that this textbook is suitable for teaching Chinese students and can also be applied to Chinese learners in other universities and other foreigners in alike contexts as well.
