Abstract

This study aims to: (1) examine demographic characteristics, (2) investigate purchasing behavior, and (3) analyze the influence of the marketing mix factors (4Ps) on the decision to purchase facial skincare products via social media among Generation Y women in Nakhon Phanom Province. Data were collected from a sample of 400 respondents using an online questionnaire. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics such as percentage, mean, and standard deviation, and inferential statistics (One-way ANOVA and Multiple Linear Regression) at a significance level of .05. The findings revealed that most respondents were aged 32–34 years, held a bachelor’s degree, were students, and had an average monthly income of 10,001–15,000 baht. In terms of purchasing behavior, they bought skincare products 1–2 times per month, spending 2,001–3,000 baht per purchase, primarily via Facebook. They tended to choose counter-brand products to address facial skin concerns. Overall, the marketing mix factors were rated at a high level, particularly in terms of promotion. Hypothesis testing showed that demographic factors and purchasing behavior did not significantly influence purchase decisions, whereas the marketing mix factors had a positive effect, except for price. This study indicates that entrepreneurs should focus on product quality, credibility, accessible distribution channels, and digital marketing communication. These factors are crucial for enhancing the competitiveness of beauty businesses in border provinces and can contribute to the development of the digital economy in the Greater Mekong Subregion. The findings also highlight important implications for digital marketing in border areas.
