Life and Read Fest: Transforming Library into Sustainable Learning Spaces

Abstract

This article presents lessons learned from developing learning promotion activities and utilizing library spaces under Thammasat University Library’s Library of Life framework. The development was guided by relevant conceptual frameworks adopted by Thammasat University Library to advance its vision of becoming a Library of Life, particularly Life Space and My Life My Library. These frameworks, together with an analysis of previous learning promotion activities, contributed to the development of Life and Read Fest (LRF), which was designed to connect participants through seven activities under the B-Connect framework: Book Fair, Board Game, Book Boost, Book Sharing, Book Talk, Book Club, and Bite Market. A satisfaction survey was completed by 340 LRF participants, most of whom were Thammasat University undergraduate students (308 participants, or 90.59%). Among the seven activities, Book Fair attracted the highest participation, followed by Book Boost and Bite Market. Overall satisfaction with LRF was assessed across four dimensions: publicity and communication, event activities, venue, and event duration. The results indicated the highest level of satisfaction, with an overall mean score of 4.75. These findings suggest that LRF effectively promoted the use of library spaces as a hub for informal learning while also creating participatory spaces that foster connections between library users and the library.
