Factors Influencing the Use of Thammasat University Digital Collections: TUDC
Main Article Content
Abstract
This study investigates the factors influencing the use of Thammasat University Digital Collections (TUDC) and examines the relationships among these factors. Drawing on an integrated framework combining the Information Systems Success Model (IS Success Model), the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM Model), and the Marketing Mix (4Ps), the research employed a quantitative approach using an online questionnaire administered to 397 TUDC users.
Findings indicate that the typical user profile is female, aged 25-35, and holds a bachelor’s degree. The majority of users access the system via the library website with the primary use purpose including searching for academic textbooks and articles, mainly for study and report preparation, within these activities, research and thesis represent the most frequently accessed content categories. Regarding user perceptions of the influencing factors, the findings indicate a high level of consensus, with mean scores ranging from 3.82 to 4.43. Path analysis revealed that "Perceived Usefulness" served as the strongest direct predictor of TUDC usage, followed by "Perceived Ease of Use". Furthermore, "System Quality" and "Service Quality" exert significant indirect effects on system usage through these two fundamental constructs of the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM). However, a critical observation from this study is that "Information Quality" does not hold a statistically significant relationship with "Perceived Ease of Use", and "Promotion" showed no measurable impact on usage behavior.
These findings contribute to a deeper understanding of information systems success and the concept of digital library adoption within an academic context by validating an integrated theoretical framework. The insights gained serve as a strategic guideline for enhancing the design and development of services to more effectively meet user requirements.
