SCHOOL-BASED MANAGEMENT OF EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS UNDER THE OFFICE OF THE BASIC EDUCATION COMMISSION

Abstract

This study aimed to 1) examine school-based administration under the Office of the Basic Education Commission (OBEC) and 2) compare school-based administration according to roles, namely school administrators/teachers and parent networks. The sample consisted of 97 participants, including 51 school administrators/teachers and 46 parent network members, determined using Krejcie and Morgan’s sample size table. The data collection instrument was a researcher-developed Likert-scale questionnaire, which had a consistency index ranging from 0.66 to 1.00 and an overall reliability of 0.931. The data were analyzed using percentages, means, standard deviations, and t-tests.

            The results indicated that: 1) overall, school-based administration under OBEC by both school administrators/teachers and parent networks was at a high level; 2) the comparison of school-based administration showed statistically significant differences at the 0.05 level between school administrators/teachers and parent networks, both overall and in specific aspects, with parent networks scoring higher than school administrators/teachers.
