Learning Management in Social Studies According to Buddhist Principles

Abstract

This article aims to present new knowledge regarding social studies learning management based on Buddhist principles by integrating three key principles of Buddhist learning: (1) learning must begin with the self, which involves cultivating “chanda” (wholesome desire) so that learners develop love and satisfaction in learning, leading to “viriya” (effort and perseverance in seeking knowledge), “citta” (mindfulness and attentiveness in learning), and “vimamsa” (self-reflection and self-improvement); (2) learning must be accompanied by practice in order for learners to develop wisdom and direct insight through hands-on experience; and (3) learning must be combined with enjoyment by organizing learning activities that promote happiness and interest among learners, such as play-based learning, storytelling, case studies, and practical training, all of which help learners gain deeper understanding and be able to apply knowledge appropriately in their daily lives.
