Publication Ethics

Publication Ethics in the Thai Health Promotion Journal (THPJ)

The Thai Health Promotion Journal has established guidelines for practices and publication ethics for publishing research articles and academic papers as follows:

Roles, Duties, and Responsibilities of Editors

  • Editors are responsible for reviewing, evaluating, and selecting articles for publication in the journal, ensuring that the content aligns with the journal’s policy.
  • Editors must verify the accuracy and quality of academic works prior to publication.
  • Editors must operate the journal in accordance with its objectives and continually improve and develop the journal to meet standards.
  • Editors must avoid conflicts of interest and must not have personal or financial interests with authors, reviewers, or editorial board members that could lead to exploiting journal articles for business purposes or claiming academic work as their own.
  • Editors must make decisions based on academic merit and without bias regarding the article’s content or the author’s race, gender, religion, culture, political beliefs, or institutional affiliations.
  • Editors must adhere to the procedures outlined in the workflow defined by the journal.
  • Editors must not truncate or alter the content of articles, academic works, or reviewers’ evaluations.

Roles, Duties, and Responsibilities of Authors

  • Authors must conduct research and write reports with honesty, integrity, and adherence to ethical standards.
  • Authors must confirm that their work is based on factual research findings without distortion or falsification of data.
  • Authors must appropriately cite the works of others included in their manuscript.
  • Authors must not plagiarize the work of others.
  • Authors are responsible for ensuring that their work has neither been published previously nor is under consideration for publication elsewhere.
  • Authors must identify all co-authors and clearly specify each person’s role and contribution if the work is collaborative.
  • Authors must disclose funding sources that supported the research.

In cases where authors violate these provisions—especially items 2, 3, 4, and 5—the journal reserves the right to ban publication for a period of at least three years and will notify the author’s affiliated institution or the author, as appropriate.

Roles, Duties, and Responsibilities of Reviewers

  • Reviewers must maintain the confidentiality of manuscripts submitted for review and must not disclose their contents to unrelated individuals.
  • Reviewers must avoid conflicts of interest with authors or any other circumstances that could prevent them from providing objective feedback. Reviewers should notify the journal editor and decline to review such manuscripts.
  • Reviewers should evaluate articles within their area of expertise, focusing on the quality of the work and refraining from using unsupported personal opinions as the basis for their decisions.
  • If reviewers discover that a manuscript contains material identical or substantially overlapping with other published works, they must inform the editor.
