The impacts on residents and operators of dormitory caused by enforcement of the Dormitory Act B.E. 2558

Abstract

When rental dormitory is popular nowadays, there is the need to have a specific regulation to control the operation of dormitory business. In the past Thailand had Act of Dormitory B.E. 2507. According to the developments of politic, economic and education, it reflects the previous mentioned regulation. Therefore, the act was terminated and they regulated a new act called “The Act of Dormitory B.E.2558.” But the enforcement of the Act of Dormitory B.E.2558 which replaces the previous law showed that the private dormitories can accept specifically students in university aged not over 25 years old. If the private dormitory operators violate there are offenses and criminal penalties. This may affect the income to business of private dormitory operators because they can support only guests that are undergraduates and students not over than 25 years old.
