A View on the Society through from Jed Ja The Southern Thai Literary Work

Abstract

The study of Southern Thai literature “Jed Ja” is aimed to investigate the state of society appearing in Jed Ja literature. A document research was applied to this research, and then the data were analyzed by the method of descriptive analysis. Its Kabyanee 11 (consisting 11 syllables), Kabchabang 16 (consisting of 16 syllables) and Kabsurangkanang 28 (consisting 28 syllables) poems and Southern Thai language were composed to tell the stories. Also, expressions of comparison were applied to the stories. The results of the study revealed that the literature reflect Southern Thai dialect, Southern Thai social values, social surroundings and the ways of life. Moreover, the study regarding the ways of life and social surroundings reflect people’s life and their folklore society which is the kind of tradition society related to their life and society of Southern Thai being in the literature. Literature also gives point of views in cultures such as the content explaining about gratitude for their parents.
