The Condition of The Living Library in Thaksin University Library

Abstract

The aim of research was to study the opinion of users toward the condition of the living library in Thaksin University Library, and study the recommendations of users as a guideline for the development of the living library model in Thaksin University Library. Sampling are 390 people from Thaksin University Library users. The sampling group was classified as 25 of instructors and staff, 335 students and 30 external users. The questionnaire comprises general data of the users and the opinion about Thaksin University Library. The questionnaire included 25 items rating scale with open-ended questions about the opinion on the environment, resources, personel, services and information technology aspects. The data were analyzed as frequency itemize and percentage. Analyzed the opinion of service users by mean, standard deviation and to be arranged in order, and to split up into analyzed recommendations from the open-ended questions an aspect. The research outcome was in high level (= 3.80). This showed that the users liked the living library model in Thaksin University Library. The reasons were that living library could support the demand of users. The library were the place for everyone who look for information from all information media. The library was quiet as the real tradition library, while it served a great deal of atmosphere as new high-technology and modern equipment. These two areas were in the same building but were separated. In conclusion, the living library is an appropriated place for the users and it served the real learning atmosphere.
