Adolf Hitler : The missing little narratives in Thai literature

Abstract

This research article examines missing perspectives, facts, and contexts regarding Adolf Hitler in Thai literature through the lens of François Lyotard's postmodernism. The findings revealed that the grand narratives in Thai literature about Adolf Hitler predominantly focus on his autobiography and propaganda, as well as the general political landscape from 1918 to 1939. However, these narratives tend to overlook little narratives, particularly the deeper factors influencing Hitler's ideology and decision-making. These factors include Germany's economic and political conditions during 1918-1939, as well as the significant impact of the Treaty of Versailles on German politics, economy, and society. Notably, Hitler's ability to exploit the economic and social circumstances of the period to gain public trust and portray himself as the savior capable of restoring the nation's prosperity is a critical aspect often neglected in the literature.
