Collection Development to Support Research: A Case Study on Linking Research Data with the Thai Research Repository (TNRR)

Abstract

This study focuses on the collection development to support research by linking data with the Thai National Research Repository (TNRR) system and to measure the efficiency of this link. The operation was divided into three phases: 1) studying the feasibility of linking research data with the TNRR system; 2) implementing the linkage of research data with the TNRR system; and 3) evaluating the efficiency of the data linkage.

Developing an application programming interface (API) to connect research data permitted the library to acquire and manage research data. As a result, the National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT) collection was made available in the Research and Thesis category of the Thammasat University Digital Collections (TUDC) system in January 2023. Currently, over 4,000 research items are accessible, with a steadily increasing usage rate. In terms of efficiency of linking research data with the TNRR system, overall TNRR system efficiency and research data quality thereby obtained were rated at a high level. Operational efficiency was rated at the highest level. Satisfaction with the operation resulting from the research data linkage with the TNRR system was likewise rated at a high level.
