The Drug Proliferation Problem in Tao Poon Community, Ban Nuea Subdistrict, Mueang District, Kanchanaburi Province

Abstract

This research aimed to: (1) examine the drug proliferation problem in Tao Poon Community, Ban Nuea Subdistrict, Mueang District, Kanchanaburi Province; and (2) investigate approaches to addressing drug-related problems in the aforementioned area. A quantitative research design was employed in this study. The sample consisted of 329 residents of Tao Poon Community Areas 1–3, selected from a total population of 1,865 individuals. The sample size was determined using Taro Yamane’s formula at a 95% confidence level. Cluster sampling combined with purposive sampling techniques was applied. The research instrument was a questionnaire consisting of four dimensions with a total of 167 items. The instrument’s content validity was verified by experts, yielding an Index of Item-Objective Congruence (IOC) ranging from 0.67 to 1.00. The overall reliability of the questionnaire was 0.89. Data were analyzed using percentage, mean, and standard deviation. The findings revealed that: (1) the overall level of the drug proliferation problem in Tao Poon Community was at a moderate level (M = 3.40); and (2) the overall level of approaches to addressing drug-related problems in the area was at a high level (M = 3.95). These findings indicate that residents are aware of and place importance on approaches to solving drug-related problems in the community.
