EFFECTIVENESS OF PUBLIC WELFARE MANAGEMENT OF THE SANGHA IN BAN KHWAO DISTRICT, CHAIYAPHUM PROVINCE

Abstract

This research aims to (1) study the level, (2) study the relationship, and (3) study guidelines for promoting the effectiveness of public welfare management by the monastic community in Ban Khwa District, Chaiyaphum Province. The research employs a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative research using a questionnaire with a reliability coefficient of 0.862 from a sample of 155 monks. Data was analyzed using frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, and correlation coefficient. Qualitative research involved interviews with 9 key informants, summarized in narrative form. The research findings revealed that:

1) The overall effectiveness of public welfare management by the monastic community in Ban Khwa District, Chaiyaphum Province, was high (=4.27).

2) The overall relationship between public welfare management and its effectiveness by the monastic community in Ban Khwa District, Chaiyaphum Province, showed a strong positive correlation (r=0.901).

3) Guidelines for promoting the effectiveness of public welfare management by the monastic community in Ban Khwa District, Chaiyaphum Province, were found to include: Production – surveying public needs, developing the potential of monks, and applying innovations; Efficiency – systematic management, coordination with network partners, transparency, and indicators and evaluation; Satisfaction – operations consistent with Buddhist precepts and responsive to public needs; Adaptation – adjusting attitudes and operational methods to align with changing social contexts by integrating Buddhist principles with modern management; and Development –developing the administrative potential of monks to work systematically and transparently, thereby improving the quality of public welfare work.
