Abstract

This research aims to (1) study the level of monastic management, (2). study the factors influencing of monastic management, and (3) present the management guidelines of the monastic affairs according to the strategic plan for the reform of Buddhist affairs of the monastic community in Nakhon Ratchasima Province. The research methodology is a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative research using a questionnaire with a reliability coefficient of 0.834 from a sample of 113 monks. Data was analyzed using frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, and stepwise multiple regression analysis. Qualitative research involved interviews with 9 key informants, summarized in narrative form. The research results found that:

1) The overall level of monastic management according to the strategic plan for the reform of Buddhist affairs in Nakhon Ratchasima Province was found to be high (x̅=4.26).

2) Six factors influencing Buddhist affairs significantly impacted two aspects of monastic management according to the strategic plan for the reform of Buddhist affairs in Nakhon Ratchasima Province: governance and religious affairs, at a statistical significance level of 0.01. These factors together explained 61.3% of the variance.

3) Guidelines for monastic management according to the strategic plan for the reform of Buddhist affairs in Nakhon Ratchasima Province indicated that: Regarding the strengthening of Buddhist teachings, education for both monks and the public should be developed through cooperation among all sectors. Regarding upgrading internal management processes, clear structures and roles should be defined. Regarding developing a Buddhist-based learning organization, knowledge enhancement and the use of technology for monks should be provided. Finally, sufficient resources should be available to drive Buddhist affairs. There should be adequate budget allocation and transparent administration.
