The Four Noble Truths: A Buddhist Framework for Sustainable Educational Administration
Keywords:
The Four Noble Truths, Educational Administration, SustainabilityAbstract
This academic article aims to study the application of the Four Noble Truths, a core principle in Buddhism, as an integrated framework for sustainable educational administration. This analytical study reviews literature on the Four Noble Truths and concepts of sustainable educational administration. It specifically analyzes the relationship between the Four Noble Truths and the key components of educational administration: policy-making, planning, implementation, and evaluation. This analysis demonstrates the potential of the Four Noble Truths as an intellectual tool for educational administrators.
The study found that the Four Noble Truths can be an effective framework for educational administration. It begins by identifying the problem or suffering (Dukkha) within the educational system, such as inequality, uneven educational quality, or a lack of morality and ethics among students. Next, it analyzes the root causes of these problems (Samudaya), which may stem from internal and external factors like a lack of educational resources, inefficient management, or inappropriate social values. The subsequent step is to set the ultimate goal (Nirodha), which is to create a truly sustainable educational system. Finally, a practical path (Magga) is established to achieve this goal, such as developing curricula that integrate ethics, promoting participation from all sectors of society, and implementing student-centered learning processes.
This article concludes that applying the Four Noble Truths to educational administration provides administrators with a clear and systematic approach to problem-solving and achieving sustainability. By seeing problems as they truly are, thoroughly analyzing their causes, setting genuine goals, and defining the correct course of action, this framework can lead to the development of an educational system that not only focuses on academic knowledge but also fosters students to become quality, moral, and happy citizens—a crucial foundation for the ongoing development of a sustainable society.
