Guidelines for fostering public consciousness among students

Abstract

This research aims to 1) study public consciousness and 2) find ways to enhance public consciousness among students in the Industrial Engineering Program, Faculty of Engineering and Architecture. The sample group used in this research study was 118 students of the Bachelor of Engineering Program in Industrial Engineering, Faculty of Engineering and Architecture, Rajamangala University of Technology Suvarnabhumi, academic year 2024. The sample size was determined using the Krejcie and Morgan table using a simple random sampling method. The research instruments were questionnaires and interviews with an IOC value of 1.00 and a reliability value of 0.95. The statistics used in the research were mean and standard deviation. The research results found that

1) the level of public consciousness of students in the industrial engineering program had an average score at a high level.

2) The results of the synthesis of guidelines for enhancing public consciousness of students in the Industrial Engineering Program, Faculty of Engineering and Architecture, are as follows: (1) Integrate public consciousness in courses, encourage teachers to integrate public consciousness activities, such as projects to design or develop systems for the community, into engineering courses. (2) Organize academic service projects for society, organize activities for students to design/develop tools, machines, or processes to improve the quality of life in the community, such as developing a waste management system in the community. (3) Promote learning through engineering volunteerism, encourage students to participate in volunteer activities related to engineering knowledge, such as repairing teaching equipment or teaching students about safety in factories.
