Peer Review Policy
The Journal of Social Science and Cultural Education (JSSCE) is a double-blind peer-reviewed journal published bimonthly. Publish theoretical, empirical, and experimental papers that are important. All research articles and most other article types published in JSSCE undergo peer review. This usually involves using a double-blind review by 2-3 independent, expert peer reviewers. Peer reviewer selection is critical to the publication process. It is based on many factors, including expertise, reputation, specific recommendations, conflict of interest, and previous performance. Speed, thoroughness, sound reasoning, and collegiality are highly desirable. There should not be a direct correspondence between authors and peer reviewers; communication is mediated by the Editor.
Peer Review Process :
The five steps of the publication peer review process are as follows:
1. A manuscript assessed by editors (1 week):
The editors will check the submitted manuscripts as follows;
- Format
- Readability
- Language
- Plagiarism (no more than 15%)
- Sufficiency and credibility of references
- Reference writing style
- As well as the arrangement of the citation against the Author’s Guidelines.
Any wrong arrangement of the citation, excessive redundancy, or repetition will result in the manuscripts being rejected. Then, will inform the author of further acknowledgment
2. Peer reviewing (1-2 weeks):
Throughout the review process, the journal uses a double-blind review. After the manuscripts pass the first step, they will be assessed by at least 2 to 3 reviewers. The assessment results are divided into four categories: ‘accept’, ‘accept with minor revision’, ‘accept with major revision’, and ‘reject.’
3. Notification of peer reviewing results (1 week):
After accepting the manuscripts that have passed the screening stage from reviewers, the editors will reconsider and finalize the results. Only manuscripts passing with ‘accept’, or ‘accept with minor revision’ will be passed to the next step. Those with ‘accept with major revision’ will be carefully reconsidered by the editors. Those with ‘reject’ results will not be published in the journal.
4. Revision (1-3 weeks):
At this stage, when receiving the manuscripts back, the authors have to respond to reviewers’ suggestions and those of the editors (if applicable) and make necessary corrections. Also, they have to inform of the revision. Then, the authors have to return both the revised manuscripts and the completed form to the editors within a specific deadline.
5. Reviewing the revision (1 week):
After receiving the submitted revised manuscripts, the editors will check whether the authors have successfully addressed the reviewers’ and the editors’ comments or suggestions. If the revised manuscripts pass this stage, the editors will deem the manuscripts accepted for publication and send them to the publishing process.
