Abstract

This academic article aims to present the study titled "Integrating Buddhist Principles to Foster a Peaceful Society." The objectives are to study the concepts and principles of the Four Sublime States (Brahma Vihara 4) in Buddhism, analyze the application of these principles in developing interpersonal relationships in society, and propose ways to integrate the Four Sublime States to promote a peaceful society. This research is a documentary study, examining data from the Tripitaka, textbooks, academic documents, and related research. The data was then analyzed and synthesized using content analysis. The findings indicate that Buddhist principles comprise Metta (loving-kindness), Karuna (compassion), Mudita (sympathetic joy), and Upekkha (equanimity). These principles promote noble minds, love, goodwill, empathy, and justice towards others. Integrating these Buddhist principles can be applied to daily life, community development, and organizational management. It encourages individuals to be compassionate, helpful, rejoice in the success of others, and maintain rational neutrality, thereby reducing conflict and fostering social harmony. Furthermore, integrating these Buddhist principles can be developed as a guideline for fostering a peaceful society in various dimensions: individual, community, and social. This involves cultivating these virtues through education, family, religious institutions, and social organizations, leading to spiritual development alongside social development, ultimately resulting in peaceful and sustainable coexistence
